I grew up in the mining villages of North Nottingham. Looking for a better life I moved to Bournemouth when I was 19, which is where i discovered my passion for the beach, the ocean and surfing. I’m far more at home in the water than i am on land! I started out as a Bournemouth beach lifeguard during the summers and a pool lifeguard during the winters. After 5 years of lifeguarding I badly broke my leg during a rescue in the summer at Bournemouth, which ended my lifeguard career. Realising my lifeguarding days were over i qualified as a teacher and began teaching pool lifeguard, beach lifeguard and first aid. During 2001 & 2002 i worked for the RNLI Beach Rescue training all the beach lifeguards in Bournemouth, Poole and Weymouth. Ultimately teaching lifeguards wasn’t enough for me, i wanted more adrenaline, constant challenges, more knowledge and more experience, so i joined the Ambulance Service. I was based at Poole ambulance station working on front line ambulances for a almost decade, which i absolutely loved! I left the Ambulance Service during 2012, and have since been working within the training World delivering all levels of first aid training, which includes working as a contracted consultant delivering pre hospital medical training to fire arms Police, Riot Police Medics, Fire Fighters and Hospital staff.
During February 2015 I broke my ankle, which is when i bought my first DSLR camera and created the Facebook page ‘Waveslider Photography’, to post pics for my family and friends to see. What started out as a hobby is now a full-blown passion!
